Art give me the agency to raise awareness on ongoing issues like no other medium kind.
My work ranges from raising awareness about climate change and showcasing nature beauty, to meditations and reflexions about how modernity is reshaping tradition.

Okaasan in an artist and photograph living in the South of France. Her work has now acquired a local and worldwide reckonision with expostions and happenings in Occitanie, Lyon, Switzerland and Miami.

Okaasan started making art as a teen and started to exhibit various creations in markets, expositions and happenings in 1992, first in the South of France, then in Lyon where she started to experiment with different creators and mediums. Her work as since been displayed in western Europe, and even America!

Transcending mediums, techniques and themes, my art isn't just another a testimony that we're only a part of our planet's ecosystem, a plea to look at Nature's beauty, a cry urging to reclaim one's childlike curiosity and agency on the present moment hyperconnected societies are stealing. It's an open invitation to rethink the world we live in, and challenge the ideas we have about nature, our influence and perception of it, technology, daily items, routines, and my artistic process itself.

Okaasan's artistic path

I am a self-taught artist, I've been painting since I was very young. My love for experimenting and trying new thing led me to try a lot of different mediums. I've been experiencing with materials that would give texture or volume to my paintings since my early years in Lyon (1995-1997).

After taking a break when my twin daughters were born in 1997, followed by a divorce in 2000 I gradually resumed painting when my job gave me the freedom of to do so. I was then working in a communication agency, which opened up other perspectives for me, such as photography and allowed me to look at my artistic work with a different eye and new ambitions.

However, it wasn't until I got to work for a reduced amount of time, in a less demanding carrier, that I could finally resume fully a public artistic activity - around 2020 or so. Today, I still combine my work as an artist-author with a part-time job.
